But it’s not just the arch itself that’s captivating. The surrounding area is a haven for New Zealand fur seals. You can often see them basking on the rocks below or frolicking in the surf. The cacophony of their barks and the sight of them so close to shore is a truly wild experience. Remember to keep a respectful distance, of course – we’re visitors in their home.

Just a short drive from Admirals Arch, you’ll find another natural masterpiece: Remarkable Rocks. These weathered granite formations, perched precariously on a granite dome, look like they’ve been sculpted by an eccentric artist. Walking amongst these formations feels surreal. You can climb on some of the lower rocks (carefully!), and the views out to the Southern Ocean are simply spectacular. It’s a place that encourages quiet contemplation, a moment to truly appreciate the artistry of nature. I always find myself coming back here, just to sit and absorb the sheer magnificence of it all.
Wildlife Encounters: A Sanctuary for Australian Icons

It’s a great spot for swimming, fishing, or simply soaking up the sun. Another favourite of mine is Little Sahara, a mesmerising expanse of white sand dunes that feels like a desert oasis.
